7th Grade Life Maps

This project was very intense for our 7th grade. We studies Art Deco signs from the '30s and
'40's. We also studies Route 66. Then the kids made art deco signs for major events in their life to post along the road map of their life. Here are some great ones by Madison Edgerton, Alondra Palomino, Jessica Huffman, and Jocyln Aguirre

Personalized License Plates by the 8th Grade

The 8th grade students began their year by creating their own version sof vanity license plates. The instructions were to have a state, a personal slogan, and a plate with 7-9 characters. These plates were made by Lindsey Pritchard, Ivy evans, and Kaylyn Moya respectively.

6th Grade Copies Van Gogh Painting

The 6th graders are contuing their study of landscape and value by copying a painting by Vincent Van Gogh. This projects uses grid design, vanishing point, perspective, and value. These were done by Ashton Fry, Chris Hockaday, Mikala Tracy, and Ryan Cannon.

Adams 12 budget Cuts are Coming - AGAIN!!!

At the board meeting on August 20, the Adams 12 Board of Education voted to place a $9.9 million mill levy override and an $80 million bond on the Nov. 4 ballot. 6th Grade Lighthouse drawings

Welcome to a New School Year

Welcome back to Shadow Ridge Middle School. This will be an exciting year for my students of 2 dimensional art. The joy of teaching is that each year my curriculum and projects can get changed for more exciting art projects. The 7th grade have a lot of new projects - Georgia O'Keefe watercolors, Aborigine Art designs, recycled junk mail collages. New projects for the 8th grade include playing card self portraits, abstract/ geometric paintings, still life drawings of hardware tools, and digital Picasso drawings. 6th grade will continue learning the basics of 2-d art throught their study of landscape drawings and paintings.

The newest thing for me and my classroom this year, though, is the sculpture class I will be teaching. Mr. Utesch's class is well known and respected for his sculptures and ceramic projects. My class will compliment what goes on next door by using new and different materials. For example, we will study the figure by building a likeness out of popsicle sticks; animals will be sculpted out of wire; yarn and rope will be used to create modern and conceptual reliefs; paper sculptures will be done out of foam core. I will also continue having my students create environmental sculptures out of natural materials.
